Floorcloth : Use and care

Unrolling Your Floorcloth:
A floorcloth can stiffen up in cold weather; however, once warmed it becomes flexible again. Therefore, after receiving your floorcloth, let it reach room temperature before unrolling. After unrolling, the floorcloth should then be set on the floor and allowed to flatten out naturally so as to prevent any cracking of paint or canvas. Do not force it to flatten. It will flatten with time.

Installing Your Floorcloth:
Floorcloths are not recommended for use over carpet, but are designed for use on hard even floors. Before installing your floorcloth, clean the floor thoroughly by vacuuming. Small dirt particles may be cleared by damp mopping. Small particles can cause visible bumps. To remove the particles, flip back the corner of the floorcloth and locate the source of the bump.
Non-skid rubber padding:
We recommend the use of non-skid rubber pad (rug gripper), available at most home-improvement or carpet stores. This provides an additional grip and reduces wear and tear. Make sure the legs of any furniture that will be used on top of the floorcloth have protective glide caps or felt pads attached to the bottom. This makes it easier to shift the furniture and prevents scratching. Nails sticking out of ladies high heel dress shoes may cause scratches.

How to Clean Your Floorcloth:
Do not fold or bend your floorcloth. Do not leave your floorcloth outside in the weather or sitting in water.

Floorcloths should be cleaned periodically to remove dirt. After vacuuming the floorcloth, flip the corners back and vacuum underneath the edges. If soiled, wipe the surface with mild soapy water or white vinegar and water. Do not use heavy duty cleansers which may damage the paint or those that leave a sticky film on the surface such as Murphy oil soap. If ever your floorcloth gets damaged or the edge appears worn after a few years; lightly scrub the affected area using soapy water, let dry and touch up with the matching color of acrylic paint. Lightly sand loose paint, if any; before applying the paint.

How to Move and Store Your Floorcloth:
Moving a large floorcloth without damaging it requires only a few minutes. We recommend you to roll the canvas on a tube with a minimum six inch diameter with the painted side facing out and secure with a clean plastic wrap like Saran Wrap. Never roll floorcloth with non skid pad. When you are ready to use it again let the floorcloth come to room temperature and then unroll slowly - do not attempt to flatten it. As the floorcloth continues to warm it will flatten completely. A floorcloth not in use may be either rolled as above or kept flat.

Enjoy your unique floorcloth !
